HIMYM Season 8 Episode 5

This episode is called the Autumn of Break-ups. That leaves the question whether it will be Robin and Nick, or Ted and Victoria. Lily and Marshall tell Ted early on that Victoria keeps hinting at wanting to get engaged to Ted which he seemed pretty oblivious too. Eventually Ted finally gets the hint and proposes to Victoria. She happily says yes....on one condition. She asks Ted to stop being friends with Robin. From a woman's point of view, I see where she is coming from. Ted always had a soft spot for Robin, and they had so much history. She felt like she was holding them as a couple back. Lily unbiasedly tries to point this out to Ted.  But from Ted's point of view it seems almost impossible. I mean he's had Robin in his life for 10 years basically, shes family to him by now. Ted makes the decision to pick Victoria over Robin, because she could possibly be his wife, and Robin will never give him what he wants. But when he calls her down from the bar, he chickens out. He tells Victoria he can't stop being friends with Robin, even though he doesn't feel anything towards her anymore. With this decision, Victoria leaves Ted. He doesn't want Robin to know but he hints to the fact that she will find out. Also with Quinn leaving as well, Barney has turned into quite the hot mess. He chooses a dog as a wing man, and carries this stray dog with him everywhere. Robin sees this as a cry for help and implores Nick to invite him for dinner. Half way through, Barney gets a call that the owner wants the dog back sending Barney into a tailspin depression. Robin decides to leave the dinner with Nick to go help Barney with giving the dog back. Nick forgives Robin for this, and somehow they make it through the episode but i can sense they wont stay together for long.
