In this episode, Barney thought that creating a pre-nup with new fiance Quinn, would be a good idea even though, as usual, most of his rules were completely absurd. Of course Barney's complaints made the men reflect in their relationships causing tension between the four couples, Ted & Victoria (who left her fiance at the alter for Ted last season), Robin and new boyfriend Nick, and of course Lily and Marshall and new baby Marvin. The irony is that the show has very blatantly eluded to Barney and Robin getting married, which is why at the end of the episode, Barney and Quinn realize they don't trust each other and end up breaking up. We can assume that the wedding is a little ways down the road, leaving Robin and Nick's break up not far off. Victoria's ex-fiance Klause moved in with Ted and Victoria, which also caused some tension, and Lily and Marshall had issues with how delicately she treats baby Marvin, which made Marshall assume he was a bad father. But even though people were sad to see Quinn go, the episode landed on a happy note in a flash forward, with Barney telling his lawyer he doesn't want a pre-nup with his new fiance Robin.
